The House
Terms of use
Last updated 5 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and ANAMCARA. They apply when you use this website, write to us, book a private appointment, join the letters from the house, or buy or commission a piece. The site, those conversations, and the pieces are together the services. Please read them. If you do not agree, do not use the services.
A particular service, such as a commission or a repair, may come with a short note of its own. That note governs if it conflicts with these terms on that point. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal information. By using the services you confirm that you have read it.
We may update these terms by posting the new version on this page and changing the date above. The version posted at the time you order is the version that applies to that order. Please look again before you buy.
1. Who may use the site
You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live. The site is for personal use: choosing a piece, commissioning one, or learning about the house. It is not for resale or for any other trade. If you believe a child has written to us, email [email protected].
2. Descriptions and prices
We describe each piece carefully. Stone, mark, and finish vary from piece to piece; that variation is part of the work. A photograph can read slightly larger or smaller than the piece in the hand, and the color on your screen can differ from the color in daylight. Weights and measurements are given as closely as the piece allows.
Availability and price can change. A piece marked as available by enquiry is not reserved until we confirm it in writing. If the correct price is lower than the price you were shown, we charge the lower price. If the correct price is higher, we ask you before we make or ship the piece. If we cannot reach you, we cancel the order and return anything you have paid.
3. Information you give us
You agree that the name, contact details, and delivery information you give us are accurate. How we use that information is set out in the privacy notice.
4. Buying a piece
When you order through the site, by invoice, or through the house, the following applies.
- Pieces are sold for you or for someone you are giving them to. They are not sold for resale. We may limit how many of a piece one person or household may buy, and we may decline an order.
- You will be able to review the piece, the price, and the delivery details before you pay. An order is accepted when we confirm it. We take payment before that confirmation.
- We may delay or cancel an order before delivery if a description, a price, or the availability was wrong, or if we need a detail from you. We will tell you, and we will return what you paid for anything we do not deliver.
- Prices are shown in the currency stated at purchase. Tax and any charge that is not included will be listed before you pay.
- We may stop offering a piece, or withdraw an unfinished offer, before you have accepted it.
Care and repair
If you send a piece for repair or resizing, we will tell you the time and, where there is a charge, the cost, after we have seen it. Looking at a piece for repair is not an appraisal and is not a statement of its value. If a piece is lost or damaged while it is with us for repair, we will repair it or replace it with a piece of like kind. That is the remedy for that loss, except where the law requires more.
5. Accounts
You do not need an account to write to us. If we later offer an account, you will keep the sign-in details to yourself, use a password you do not use elsewhere, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
6. What you may not do
In connection with the services, you agree that you will not:
- break the law, or infringe someone else’s rights;
- harass, threaten, or impersonate any person, including anyone in the house;
- use another person’s information without their permission;
- resell a piece bought from us, or present the site as yours;
- copy our photographs, texts, or mark, or remove a credit from them;
- interfere with the site, probe it, or scrape it, other than ordinary use by a public search engine to index pages;
- send unsolicited commercial messages through our forms;
- suggest that we have endorsed something we have not.
We may refuse further use of the site when this section is broken. Letting something pass once does not mean we have given the point up.
7. Tax
You are responsible for sales tax, VAT, duty, and similar charges on a purchase. Where we are required to collect a tax, we will show it before you pay. The amount collected can be adjusted if a rate or a calculation changes before the charge is final.
8. Payment
By offering a payment method, you confirm that you may use it, and you authorise us and our payment provider to charge the amount due, including tax and any stated delivery charge. If a payment cannot be completed, we will not accept the order until it is. We charge only for the pieces that are actually confirmed.
9. Gift cards
We do not currently sell gift cards. If we issue one, it may be used only toward an ANAMCARA piece, it is not cash except where the law requires cash redemption, and a lost card is replaced only where the law requires that.
10. Delivery
Online orders include complimentary insured delivery. Any date we give is an estimate. Risk in a piece passes to you when it is delivered to you. Risk in a piece you return passes back to us when the carrier delivers it to us. We do not ship where the law forbids it. Questions about a shipment can come to [email protected].
11. Returns
A ready piece bought online may be returned within 30 days of delivery if it is unworn and in the condition in which it was sent, together with its numbered plaque and packaging. Write to us and we will arrange a complimentary insured return. You may exchange the piece or receive a refund to the original payment method.
A piece that was commissioned, engraved, resized, or otherwise altered for you is made to leave the house only once, and it cannot be returned.
12. A later change in price
If we reduce the price of a piece within 14 days after your order, and before it has shipped or been finished for you, write to us and we will refund the difference. After delivery, or once a commissioned piece is underway, the price you confirmed is the price of that piece.
13. Offers
A private offer is for the person it was sent to. It cannot be combined with another offer unless the note says so, and it ends on the date it states. We may withdraw an offer before you have accepted it.
14. Our work, and your licence to look
The site, the name ANAMCARA, the house symbol, the photographs, and the texts belong to the house or are used with permission. You may view them and you may share a link. You may not copy them for your own trade, or make a derivative of the mark or the photographs, without written permission.
15. The name
ANAMCARA and the house symbol are marks of the house. A mention or a link should not imply that we made, stocked, or approved something we did not.
16. Ideas you send
If you send a suggestion about the house or the work, we may consider it and use it without an obligation to pay you or to return it. Sending an idea does not make you an owner of a design.
17. Messages, calls, and texts
If you give us a phone number, we may call or text you about the order, appointment, or message that number relates to. We send a marketing letter or text only if you asked for it. You can stop letters with the unsubscribe link, and you can stop marketing texts by replying STOP or by writing to us. Your carrier’s message and data rates may apply. We do not use automated marketing calls.
18. What you submit
A message you send through the site is private to the house. We will not publish your words, your name, or a photograph of you unless you agree to that publication separately. You keep ownership of what you send. You allow us to use it to answer you, to make or care for a piece, and to keep a record of the conversation.
You promise that what you send is yours to send, that it is lawful, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We may decline or delete a message that breaks these terms.
19. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on this site infringes a copyright you own, write to [email protected] with your name and contact details, a description of the work, the address of the page, and a statement that you are the owner or the owner’s agent and that your notice is accurate. We will review a complete notice and remove or restore material as the law requires.
20. Other sites
The site may link to Instagram, Pinterest, or a press page. Those places are not operated by us, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
21. Responsibility
We make the site and the pieces with care. Except for the return and care terms above, and except for rights that cannot be excluded, the site is provided as it stands. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that the law of your country does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the mandatory rights of that country remain in full.
If you misuse the site, or if something you submit infringes another person’s rights, you will cover the loss that causes us, including a reasonable legal cost, except to the extent the loss was ours.
22. Disputes
Please write to us first at [email protected]. We would rather resolve a question about a piece directly. These terms are governed by the law of Belgium, without affecting the protection of any mandatory consumer law in the country where you live. The courts of Gent have jurisdiction, except where a consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts of your home country.
23. General
These terms are the whole agreement about the site and a purchase, together with the privacy notice and any note that came with a specific commission. If one clause cannot be enforced, the rest still apply. We may assign these terms within the house. You may not assign them. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. The terms are written in English.
